Swung by for a Friday evening dinner with my family. It was around, 8pm and every minute we were stalling more places would be closed. This was one of the locations in the Fremont area that was still open. We thought the service here was really good. They came and swapped plates for us pretty often. Checked to see if the tea was empty. They even helped refill our cups of tea also. As a bonus, we also get to watch a really really large screen tv of advertising their own restaurant. Haha. The only negative is that it is definitely pretty expensive to eat here. Each dish was $21+!! The quantity was ok though. We ordered some mixed meat clay pot (forgot what it was called but it had pork, mushrooms and also a candle to keep it warm). Maybe it is like Elton John's fav except it is candle in the .... bin .... Well it's not exactly a bin but I needed to rhyme. Haha Anyway, we also ordered a seafood crispy noodle, steamed chicken, some beef soup and hollowed inside veggies (don't know the actual English name). I really enjoyed the steamed chicken and clay pot we had. The steamed chicken was one of the most soft chicken I've ever eaten. The crispy noodle was probably a little bit too saucy and made the middle portion overly soggy. And the hollowed inside veggies were probably on the overcooked side (they were a bit mushy). I thought the beef soup was decent though. Even though service is really good here, I can't really get over how expensive the dishes are. But maybe it wasn't too bad. We did still have leftovers. But because I'm cheap, I would probably decide to eat @ a cheaper place next time.

Came here for a late birthday brunch with family and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Pearl Bay Restaurant is one of the favored dim sum places within our family, and we have yet to be disappointed. Located in the Automall Parkway plaza off Boscell, Pearl Bay serves dim sum in the mornings, before taking a siesta and opening up again for dinner. We sat on the west-side of the restaurant, next to a wall adorned with a stadium-sized TV playing Chinese concerts. Ordering was not by cart, but by pamphlet and pen. Our party of 5 ordered a ton and enjoyed each dish that came out. My favorites have to be the salted lava egg bun, pan fried chive dumpling, and chicken feet, and roasted pork belly. Service was also not too bad - luckily we were with my Cantonese parents who took over ordering and waving people down for help. Overall highly recommend checking out Pearl Bay's dim sum if you're in the area.
